Firefighters from hall 113 stand with the Abdi family after they collected donations after the families townhouse burned down in January 2016. Veronica Henri/Toronto Sun
Last month, Sahra Abdi, a mother of six, watched tearfully as her Scarborough townhouse burned to the ground in a two-alarm blaze. Earlier this week the mother and her six children cried tears of joy as firefighters from Fire Station 113 showered the family with donations they had collected in conjunction with the Toronto Professional Fire Fighters’ Association and the Ecole Jeanne-Lajoie.
“It feels amazing that I have so much help. I would like to thank the fire department and my children’s school and everybody that helped,” Adbi told the Toronto Sun. “At least my children and me are safe. So thank you again and again and again.”
